You will need:

2 cups milk
1/2 cup hot chocolate mix
1/4 cup peppermint schnapps, plus more as needed
whipped cream
sprinkles

In a saucepan heat 2 cups of milk over medium heat, just until steamy. About 5 minutes.
Once milk starts to steam whisk in hot chocolate mix. Continue cooking 2-3 minutes or until hot chocolate is desired temperature. Do not boil.
Remove from heat and whisk in 1/4 cup of peppermint schnapps. Taste. If desired, add more schnapps.
Ladle mixture into glasses, top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Serve.

I don’t usually enjoy long comments to quotes, however I have to take a stand on this one. It’s mostly due to my insane fan memories of Roswell, specifically the Max/Liz ship. Jason once talked about them in this light, before he decided to forget all the problems he created and let them “be happy”. Ignoring problems doesn’t make them go away is what most fans were screaming during the third season. And made fans of Roswell hate him.

Also, I have issues with the term “soulmate” (“true love” is also a pet peeve). Relationships in real life, even if “destined” or “fated” (other pet peeve word), still need hard work to make happen and to continue. It’s not as easy as “but we’re soul mates!” That’s not how real life works, not how real relationships work (any sort of relationship). And it has to be a two-way road. Those words, I feel, cheapen the relationship (I need to find a new word to use) instead of adding to it. “Forever” doesn’t make the emotions any real or special. Endings are the only things that give anything significance. So to toss around the “soulmate” as if these two [fictional] people are belong together, but in the process of being together are limiting themselves, then that’s not right. Doesn’t “soulmate” imply that the conditions are right too?

I really enjoy Matt/Julie and love them together, but I think the sentiment of realizing that the best thing to nurture the relationship might not be the best thing for yourself and for your future is an important aspect of growing up. Growing is messy and awkward along with the fun and laughter. They had a good ride, but if they have to end for the internal health of both individuals, that is obviously superior. How can a relationship work if both are holding themselves back? It might not be the high drama of Gossip Girl, but it’s organic, and that is why Friday Night Lights is one of the few dramas I watch.
